After being a trusted physical therapy provider in Richmond, Ashland and Fredericksburg, Virginia with Richmond/Ashland Physical Therapy, it was time to branch out to the Northern Virginia region. As a Clinic Director, Aaron Perkins, PT, DPT, OCS, CFMM, CSCS, CMTPT has been a trusted physical therapy provider for Randolph-Macon College athletes, professional athletes, multiple Richmond, Stafford, Prince William and Fredericksburg area high schools, runners, people suffering from back/neck pain, arthritic conditions, joint and tendon conditions, balance disorders and the spectrum of orthopedic conditions impacting all ages. We have worked with patients referred from many family physicians, orthopedic surgeons, pediatricians and ear nose and throat physicians throughout Richmond, Hanover County, Caroline County, Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, Stafford and Prince William Counties.

We have been relied upon by physicians to care for their patients from Ortho-Virginia, The Medical College of Virginia/VCU, Tuckahoe Orthopedics, and numerous family practice physicians in the Richmond area and from physicians in the Fredericksburg area including the Orthopedic Specialty Clinic, Fredericksburg Orthopedic Associates and countless family practice physicians. We plan to bring that same trusted care to serve patients/clients throughout Prince William County. Dr. Aaron K. Perkins, PT, DPT, OCS, CFMM, CMTPT, CSCS

Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist
Certified in Functional Manual Medicine

Aaron graduated from Randolph-Macon College with a degree in biology and a minor in psychology while playing collegiate football. He continued on to work at Johns Hopkins School of Genetic Medicine in Baltimore, MD where he conducted human genetics research. He then earned his Doctorate degree in physical therapy (DPT) from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University.

There he also participated in the VA-LEND program (Leadership Excellence in Neuro-developmental Disabilities). During this program, he received additional education and experience in leadership, evaluation, and treatment of pediatric patients as well as federal and state health care laws and services. He continued to practice as a physical therapist and as a high school football coach becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has served as a consultant for high school and college athletic programs on strength and speed training as well as injury prevention and rehabilitation of athletes. He next earned his Board Certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

Aaron has continued to receive additional focused schooling through many continued education courses including Michigan State University’s School of Osteopathic Medicines where he received his certification in Certified Functional Manual Medicine (CFMM). He is only 2 of 4 therapists in the state of Virginia with this level of extensive training and certification. In addition, he received training beyond what the state requires to perform dry needling to become a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT). He specializes in orthopedic and sports injuries with a particular interest in spine disorders. Aaron has experience treating patients with vestibular/balance disorders and pediatric patients as well. Aaron is a Certified Clinical Instructor through the American Physical Therapy Association and has instructed doctoral students in physical therapy in the clinical environment. In addition, he has continually mentored students interested in pursuing different careers including physical therapy.

In his spare time, he serves as the Vice President of the Winding Creek Elementary School PTO, and the President of the Yellow Jacket Board Advisory Committee for Randolph Macon College athletics and sports medicine. He enjoys spending time with his wife, and 2 sons, coaching his children in sports, studying the bible, and spending time with friends and family.

 

Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant / Support Staff Manager

Gabrielle Myers, LPTA

Gabrielle graduated with honors from Germanna Community College (GCC) where she obtained her Applied Science Degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant. She also obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Lynchburg College in Exercise Physiology while playing collegiate volleyball. Due to her exceptional academic and clinical knowledge, she earned the Academic Award of Excellence as a Physical Therapy Assistant at GCC. She maintained the Dean’s list all three years of this program while also excelling in her clinical environment working with a variety of orthopedic conditions. She also trained under a Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in physical therapy making her a uniquely trained therapist. She has received further education and training doing an orthopedic residency working on being certified as an orthopedic specialist through the Advanced Proficiency Pathway through the American Board of Physical Therapy. Nationally only about 20 LPTAs a year complete this advanced specialization in order to better serve patients with orthopedic conditions. Gabrielle grew up locally attending Colonial Forge High School in North Stafford where she excelled academically and athletically earning first-team All Commonwealth District as a Junior and Senior and being named first-team All-Area and second-team All-Region her last two years. At Lynchburg College, she achieved Athletic Academic honors.

Gabrielle and Dr. Perkins have worked well as a team for years now. She is highly proficient in manual treatment and incorporates her knowledge as an exercise physiologist in treating patients with back pain, knee pain, conditions impacting the foot and ankle, shoulder, hip and athletic injuries, and complex medical patients. She is an extraordinary therapist and has unique training as an exercise physiologist as well.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, working out, and coaching volleyball at a local travel volleyball program.

 

Physical Therapist/Clinic Director-Stafford

Dr. Breona Millner, PT, DPT, CMTPT

Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist

Breona graduated from Radford University with her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Sport and Health Education with a concentration in Sports Medicine. Breona received her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from Howard University in Washington, DC. Breona is passionate about helping people and has experience treating neurologic and orthopedic conditions. She incorporates her sports medicine background along with evidence-based research into treatment in order to provide exceptional care to patients. She received training beyond what the state requires to perform dry needling to become a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT). Breona is experienced in treating orthopedic conditions including ankle, knee, hip, neck, back, and shoulder pain. She utilizes an advanced manual therapy approach to treat all conditions and incorporates a Mckenzie approach to the treatment of back pain. She also has additional experience in treating various neurological conditions including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, TBI, MS, and vestibular disorders. She is currently the Clinic Director in the Stafford location. Breona grew up in Roanoke Virginia and attended Patrick Henry High School where she played basketball and track. She has always found health and fitness to be especially important and in her free time enjoys working out, running, and hiking. Breona also values community service and joined the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity during her time at Radford University and participated in many community service events and continues to give back to the community.

 

Physical Therapist

Dr. Payal Thakkar, PT, DPT

Payal earned a Doctorate degree in physical therapy from the University of Lynchburg in Lynchburg, VA near the top of her class after earning her Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. There she conducted research on vascular function in the exercise physiology research laboratory. She has the expertise and treats a variety of orthopedic, pelvic floor, and neurological conditions but has a special interest in patients with spine conditions impacting the neck and low back, complex regional pain syndrome as well as vestibular disorders including vertigo. In treating all conditions but particularly the spine she utilizes an advanced manual approach utilizing joint mobilizations, myofascial techniques, and other manual techniques directed at joints and soft tissue. She has a strong sense of altruism having volunteered for many organizations including VCU Health. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, going to the gym, and trying new restaurants.

 

Physical Therapist

Dr. Kathryn Edwards, PT, DPT

Kathryn earned her Doctorate degree in physical therapy from Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA after earning her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Nutrition from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where she was the team captain of the track and field team and won the scholar-athlete award. Dr. Edwards has experience in outpatient orthopedic settings as well as in-patient rehabilitation. Dr. Edwards has experience in treating the spectrum of orthopedic and neurological conditions including back and neck pain, foot and ankle disorders, along with shoulder and hip pathologies. She has mentored Doctorate students in physical therapy and has conducted research and presented on many topics that include various orthopedic conditions, treatments, blood flow restriction treatment on ACL and total knee replacement patients, and the impact of COVID on healthcare workers and stress reduction. Having trained and worked in a post-operative ambulatory clinic she has more expertise than the average therapist in the management of post-operative orthopedic conditions and also has a love of helping people with neurological conditions such as stroke, brain injury, Parkinson’s, and patients with balance disorders. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, visiting wineries, trying new foods, and interior design.

 

Physical Therapist

Dr. Derreck Dixon, PT, DPT

Dr. Dixon graduated from Marymount University with his Doctorate in Physical therapy after attending Marymount University to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science.  He is from Stafford, VA, and is a Colonial Forge High School graduate where he played football.  Dr. Dixon treats a variety of orthopedic and neurological conditions but has an interest in addressing back and neck pain, ankle injuries, and post-operative knee surgeries.  He has an emphasis on Orthopedic Manual Therapy (OMT) through his advanced training through the evidenced-based Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars (MAPS).  He utilizes OMT as a tool to treat conditions of the spine and extremities.  In addition to orthopedic conditions, he has experience treating a wide range of neurological conditions including patients who have suffered strokes, brain injuries, Parkinson’s disease, and other conditions.  In his free time, he enjoys watching football and cheering on his Philadelphia Eagles, watching movies, gardening, and trying new cuisine.
